If you have a flat or slow puncture

  1. 01

    Stop safely

Do not keep driving on a flat tyre. It can destroy the tyre from inside and rule out a repair.

  2. 02

    Fit the spare or call

Use your spare or space saver, or call us on 0121 389 4396 to talk it through.

  3. 03

    Bring it to us safely

Use a suitable spare within its limits. If the tyre will not hold pressure, looks damaged or you are unsure it is safe, arrange recovery rather than driving to us.

  4. 04

    We inspect and advise

Tyre off the rim, checked inside and out. You hear our findings and the price before any work.

Car puncture repair: inspection before a decision

Our car tyre repair service assesses flat tyres and slow punctures at the Coventry Road workshop. You can book an assessment online or call for advice before arranging a safe journey here; we do not provide roadside or mobile fitting.

A proper assessment needs the tyre removed from the wheel. From the outside a nail can look harmless while the inside is damaged from running flat. We check the location and size of the damage and the condition of the inner liner, then compare it with the BS AU 159 repair guidance.

When a puncture can usually be repaired

Small punctures in the central part of the tread, typically from a nail or screw, are often repairable if the tyre has not been driven flat and has no other damage. Even then, repair is only confirmed after inspection.

When a tyre must be replaced

Some damage cannot be repaired safely, and we will not attempt it.

  • Damage in the sidewall or shoulder of the tyre
  • Large cuts or holes beyond repairable limits
  • Internal damage from driving while flat or very underinflated
  • Bulges, exposed cords or previous unsafe repairs
  • Tread worn close to or below the legal limit

Repair or replace?

Repair

  • Small tread-area puncture
  • No running-flat damage
  • Tyre otherwise in good order
  • Usually lower cost

Replace

  • Sidewall or shoulder damage
  • Liner damaged from driving flat
  • Large cut, bulge or cords showing
  • New or part-worn by phone

Questions about puncture repairs

Can you guarantee my tyre can be repaired?

No. Nobody can honestly say before the tyre is off the wheel and inspected. We will tell you what we find and the options.

Can I just turn up with a flat?

Yes, you can visit during opening hours, 8am to 8pm daily. Please do not drive on the flat tyre itself; fit the spare first.

Is a temporary string plug or sealant a permanent fix?

No. An external plug or sealant is not a permanent repair. A tyre with sealant inside also needs cleaning out before it can be assessed.

Do you come out to me?

No, we do not offer a mobile or roadside service. If you cannot safely drive on a spare, arrange recovery.
