Free Tyre Check in Birmingham

A free check of your tyres, with practical advice on what to do next.

Not sure whether your tyres need attention? Book a free tyre check at Sona Tyres, Unit B, 1200 Coventry Road, Birmingham B25 8DA. The check is free and is a way to ask about tread wear and visible tyre condition before deciding whether any further work is needed. Choose an available appointment online, or call 0121 389 4396 if you would like to discuss your concern before travelling.

When is a tyre check useful?

A check is useful before a longer journey, when you are unsure about remaining tread, or after noticing uneven wear. Tell us about recent pressure loss, vibration, a pothole impact or any change in how the car feels. These symptoms can have more than one cause; checking the tyres helps decide what needs investigating rather than assuming you need a particular repair.

For cars in the UK, the minimum legal tread depth is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tread and around the entire circumference. The legal minimum is not a guarantee of good grip in every condition. Cuts, cracking, bulges and exposed cords can be important even where tread remains.

What a free tyre check can and cannot tell you

The free check looks at tread and visible tyre condition. It is not an MOT, a complete vehicle inspection or a guarantee that a tyre has no internal damage. A tyre that has been driven flat or suffered an impact may need removal from the wheel and further assessment. We will explain when the visible check is not enough.

The check itself is free. Puncture repairs, valve replacement, fitting and replacement tyres are separate services and may carry a charge. Ask us to explain any recommended work and its price before proceeding. New tyres are available by phone; online new-tyre ordering and booking remain under maintenance.

Visiting our Coventry Road garage

The check takes place at our Birmingham workshop, not a separate branch or a mobile service. Our published opening hours are Monday to Sunday, 8:00am–8:00pm. Choose an available appointment when booking; call ahead if you have a deadline, as workshop waiting times can vary.

If a tyre is flat, has a bulge or shows exposed cords, do not drive to us on that tyre. Stop safely and arrange suitable assistance. Calling the garage lets you discuss the problem without risking further damage on the journey.
